Adding A New Worksheet To My Day

I’ve spent a lot of time today trying to figure out how I am going to do all the things I want to do, have committed to doing, and all the things I am currently “streaking.”

It’s all coming together nicely, I think, except for 2 small things: sleeping and bathing.

If it weren’t for sleeping and bathing, and to some extent, eating, I would be golden.

I cannot for the life of me find slots for those two things in my day. Maybe if I were better at Excel I could add another sheet? Another workbook? (Seriously, I need a lot of help with Excel. If any of you Excel wizards could give me a few lessons, I would love to schedule that in.)

Oh wait. Maybe not. Sleep and bathing. Focus, Kath.

So here’s one scenario: Home from class around 8 PM, maybe earlier if I’m lucky. Do I have a light snack and go directly to bed and get up early and shower? Or, do I take a nice hot bath, have a glass of wine, and sleep a little longer in the morning?

In both scenarios I am not getting enough sleep, it’s just a matter of figuring out if the night shower/bath will energize me too much to sleep? And if the morning shower will be too jarring given I have to take it practically in the middle of the night, (which is now called “morning.”)

Oh, hand to brow! Me and my (first world) problems!

  1. Did you see the related article link? Sounds like the solution to your problem! In any case, adding a worksheet will only clutter your spreadsheet! Use color coding for the cells, that way you have it all in one place. 🙂

    1. I DID see that link (I put it there!). And color-coding cells?? Wha? I have no idea what you’re talking about. Come here. Sit next to me. Show me.
Oh. You’re in Germany. Well, shit then. Come back. Miss you.

      1. Well, I’ll trade you a lesson in Excel in July for a class. Hehe. And yes, I am in Germany! And I miss Mansfield so much although it scares me a little to hear what has happened to the town since I left… But, if I ever have a minute, I will make you a quick tutorial or find one online.
Color-coding cells is easy: click on the cell once, then choose a fill color from the formatting menu. That’s it. 🙂

  2. I think it depends if you are a morning person or not… I find showering in the morning wakes me up, although when it’s cold I’m reluctant to get up at all so sometimes that backfires on me!

BTW Excel is AMAZING when you learn how to do all the little things, feel free to email me or drop me a line if you have questions and I will do my best to answer them 🙂

  3. I took a half-semester Excel course at Michigan’s business school last year… they were the dryest lectures I’ve ever sat through. Hell might be being stuck in a lecture hall with 100 other students, watching the prof make pivot tables… Good luck with the yoga challenge!

  4. I use Excel all the time. I can show you some tips when you have time. But a warning: a few years ago Excel completely changed their menus. I adored the older version (pre-2007, I think, but maybe it was 2010). I’m much better at the old one and can’t find things in the new one. Another warning; I’m not a super organized person by nature, so while I can tell you Excel tricks, I can’t do much to suggest the best way to streamline your spreadsheet organization.
