Watching:
Documentary on Netflix called America’s Sweethearts: The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.

Weirdly compelling. The DCC fascinates me because it’s like a cult. Why are these women so willing to devote their whole lives to this organization, even though they get paid about what a worker at Chipotle gets paid? I kept waiting for one of them to have an epiphany and recognize how much they were being exploited, but not a single one did.
Reading:
Just finished the new Elizabeth Strout called Tell Me Everything.

I have read all of her books, but this one felt unfocused and boring. However, I stuck with it and was not disappointed! She redeemed it at the end. I loved it.
I am also slowly reading Brianna Wiest’s The Pivot Year, and I am savoring it.

It freaks me out how someone so young could be so wise. I am bringing this one with me to Kripalu next week.
BUYING
My beloved Eddie Bauer black ankle boots bit the dust last year, and I have been on the hunt to replace them ever since. I found a company called Miz Mooz
the other day and they had a pair that caught my eye and good reviews to boot, so I ordered these:

They are the Lennox boots, and they are so cute and so comfortable! I tried them on when they came and didn’t want to take them off. I love them. I love so many shoes on that website! Dangerous! If you are in the market for new fall shoes, you can’t miss.
I also broke down and fell for all the hype around the Forme bra.

I’ve been wearing it for the past few days, and I can feel that it pulls my shoulders back a bit, but it may not train my shoulders to straighten permanently. Stay tuned. This was a very spendy purchase, too.
RECIPE
I saw this one on Instagram and made it the other day. It is amazing for those times when I crave ice cream but don’t want the sugar and calories.
Here it is:
Take 2 cups of seedless red grapes and put them on a parchment paper-covered cookie sheet.
Then, combine 3 ripe bananas, 2 tablespoons of cacao powder, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla in a blender.
Pour this mixture over the grapes (make sure your grapes are grouped closely together on the cookie sheet) and freeze.
Take them out of the freezer and, with a sharp knife, cut them up into pieces like you would cut up peanut brittle.
OMG. So sweet, so cold, so delicious. Better than ice cream and no sugar!
On Monday, I head to Kripalu for a week of R&R, and I cannot wait. I have what Elizabeth Gilbert calls “no cherished outcomes” for this trip. I am going in with no expectations.. I will just relax, hike, read, write, do yoga, and eat delicious food.
Wish me luck. Heh.
Oh, and if you want to listen to a great podcast, Tim Ferriss’ latest interview with Liz Gilbert is the bomb.
and you can also watch it on YouTube here:
So, until next week, have fun and Namaste.
I love your blog! You inspire me in many ways— I love your shopping ideas for wardrobe, books you’ve read; your goal-setting, your taking care of yourself with R&R to name a few.
After you Kripalu R&R next week I would like to talk to you about my ordeals for the last 3 months with 2 hospitals stays. First for 17 days for low sodium and low weight ( both exacerbated by the doctors preparing me for a colonoscopy to treat chronic constipation and restrict fluids for chronic low sodium). It was a nightmare involving psychiatric evaluation,! Then on September 24 I slid off a chair at the New Jersey beach house my sister owns. It was intended to be a precious time with Elise for 5 days and I injured my already weak right hip. I gingerly walked on it for 4 days until I could not put any weight on it. Home late after last Friday and went to ER in Wellsboro for x ray wheich showed a broken tibia. Transported to Williamsport that day and scheduled surgery for Monday. On complete bed rest for next 36 hours But as soon as surgery repairing break with a long titanium rod and screws, it is weight bearing. I was release next day using a walker and cane for stairs. It is absolutely amazing. Four days post operation I am doing well! Much better hospital stay these 3days than previous 17 days.
Would love to talk and would love visitors any time!
Enjoy your next week.
Love, Linda
