Eating and Drinking Our Way Through Paris

La Bossue

There is so much to say, De trop, actually, but for this post which I am writing from our apartment in Montmartre, with the window open, and accordion music floating in, I will focus on eating and drinking, which is the national pastime.

In the above picture I am sipping a hot chocolate and nibbling orange cake in a small cafe called La Bossue.

And this was a place near the Muse d’Orsay where the waitress let us charge our power block because we were in danger of losing our tickets which were on our phones.

This was an Aperol Spritz after a hike up to Sacre Coeur and meditating in a beautiful park on the backside of the cathedral.

This was a place called Le Sancerre down the hill from our place. We ate there yesterday after returning from our trip to Giverney where we toured Monet’s house and gardens and the water lily pond. (Omg!!)

At this place we shared our charcuterie with our waitress’s chihuahua. I had a Sauvignon and G had her best beer of the trip so far.

I’m getting rather frustrated so I think I will end here for now. Suffice it to say we are having a blast. Our weather has been perfect. The highlight for me so far has been our dinner cruise down the Seine and our visit yesterday to Monet’s garden.

I have meditated every day. One day at Sacre Coeur, another day in the prayer area of Notre Dame, and today I meditated on the Place de Vosges in the Marais, It’s the oldest planned square in Paris, I laid in the sun, on the grass, and had Sam Harris ask me in my ear: “open your ears and listen to sounds.” I heard young women speaking in British accents, I heard mother’s scolding their children in French, I heard the gate to the park squeak open and close.

I heard myself experience Paris as it appeared in that moment. When I get home, I will reflect more deeply, but for now the accordions are calling. It’s time to eat! Au revoir! Bisous!
