I skipped Inspired By In May because…Paris.
But here’s the June wrap-up.
Thinking About:
What Emily said about Enough. She said she liked the way the people in Mansfield seemed to have enough.
She said they weren’t into “more, more, more, for the sake of more” the way many people in Portland are. And she found this lovely and refreshing.
She finds it refreshing, but frankly, this ‘enough’ mindset drives me bats. I see it as a form of complacency.
“Enough,” or, as people around here graffiti it, “Enogh”

is why there’s nothing to do, and why nothing changes, and why tumbleweeds float down Main Street after 7 PM.
The “enough” mindset clocks in, clocks out, and goes home to Netflix and chill.
Apparently, this is enough.
I am troubled by my irritation at Enough because of this concept in yoga called Santosha. It means contentment. It’s one of the five niyamas, which are like yogic commandments.
Santosha says: Accept yourself as you are, and life as it is, and don’t crave stuff that other people have. Yogis who can cultivate santosha will experience inner peace.
And I get that, I do, but for me, goals, and targets, and striving, make life feel juicy and alive.
Of course, the key is to find the balance between Enough and More. I think if I lived in a “More-driven” environment like Emily does, I would definitely need some Enough in my life, but here in Enough-ville?
MORE, please!
(Clearly, I have a long way to go on my journey toward inner peace.)
Gadgets and Gizmos
Before Paris, G bought me a pair of Ray-Ban MetaAI sunglasses, and omg, am I having fun with them!
Here they are. Do you see the little circles up at the corners?

The circle on the right is a camera. If I touch the arm of the glasses it takes a picture of what I’m looking at. If I press and hold the arm, it takes a video. If I say, Hey Meta, tell me about this building I’m looking at, it will.
If I say, Hey Meta, I’m on the Rue Ravingnon, where’s a good place to have a coffee? It will tell me. I don’t have to take out my phone. It’s so much fun.
I can also walk along with the dogs and ruminate on a personal problem with Meta and ask for its advice, and it will offer me its wisdom.
This is good, right?
Stelo by Dexacom

This is a wearable glucose biosensor. G got one last week, and mine came today. You don’t need a prescription or to involve your doctor at all. It’s not for people who take insulin, but rather for anyone who is glucose-curious, like me. Someone who’d like to know how certain foods spike or don’t spike their blood sugar.
I’m going to put mine on tomorrow. I also like that it pairs with my Oura ring.
Reading
I’m five books behind on my Goodreads Challenge to read 50 books this year. Time for some hammock time with a book! I am almost finished The Book of Form and Emptiness by Ruth Ozeki. I’m loving it!

The Yoga Lounge Book Group is on hiatus for the summer, allowing us all to make a dent in our TBR piles. I invite you to follow me on Goodreads if you want to see my outta control pile.
Eating and Drinking
Juice!
I’ve been juicing all month, and I’m loving it, though I suspect my juice is spiking my blood sugar. It’s apple, carrot, ginger, beet juice and it’s sweet, and cold, and so very dee-lish!

Btw, I use an Omega masticating juicer. (Love!)

If my Stelo says my juice is too sweet, I can always juice in something green and leafy and bitter to balance the apple, carrot, and beet combo.
So that’s it for June. We’re leaving for trip 1 of 2 to Rehoboth this weekend. This one’s with G’s family, the next one will be with mine.
Oh, and while Emily was here, we did our annual Solstice Bike Ride. Here’s to year ___! We can never remember, but we have done this ride for more than 10 years, but less than 20.
Here are the 3 amigos:

And here’s the whole gang at the start:

June was fun! I’m ready for July!
Thanks for reading. I appreciate it.
Will catch up with you Paris shares. I had bilateral knee replacements April 9 so was busy resting and PTing. Am doing GREAT!
